The Hill is a brick-and-mortar neighborhood where the homes are close together and the roofs are mostly modest, but the flashing details matter more than the field. The bungalows and shotgun houses often have a low-slope front that needs a real membrane system, not three tabs of shingle thrown over an old built-up roof. The two-family flats have flat parapet-wall roofs where the coping and the wall flashing are the first thing to fail. We do the flat work right, and where there is a steeper gabled section we run architectural asphalt or matched slate.

Most of our work on The Hill is honest, no-drama replacement: a sound membrane on the flat sections, correct flashing at the parapets and the chimney, and ridge ventilation brought up to spec on the gabled homes. These are houses people have owned for generations and intend to keep, so the conversation is usually about doing it once and doing it right. The project consultant walks the roof, tells you what actually needs to happen, and does not invent work that is not there.
