The residential roofs in Benton Park are mostly steep gabled brick homes that were originally slate, with a low-slope rear addition tacked on behind. The steep front wants matched slate, designer slate, or a heavyweight architectural shingle depending on the budget and what the block calls for; the flat rear wants a membrane system detailed correctly at the wall. The Cherokee Street storefronts are a different animal, flat parapet-wall roofs where the coping and the counterflashing are where the leaks start. We do all of it in-house.

Parts of Benton Park fall inside a local historic district, so the street-facing roof and cornice are under review. We have worked enough of these blocks to know what the board approves and to keep the project moving rather than stalled on a material question. On the hidden low-slope sections behind the gables we have more latitude to save you money. The project consultant walks the whole roof and tells you straight where the water is actually getting in.
