Flat Roof · TPO

A flat roof that
stays dry.

A single-ply roofing membrane designed for flat and low-slope roofs, with seams hot-air welded into one continuous watertight surface. Because seams are one of the most critical details on any single-ply roof, we weld them rather than relying on seam adhesive.

What it is

One membrane, welded into one surface.

TPO is a single-ply roofing membrane installed across a flat or low-slope roof deck. The sheets overlap and are hot-air welded together, creating a continuous watertight roofing surface. The reflective white membrane also helps reduce heat gain and can help lower the cooling load on the building during hot St. Louis summers. The quality of a TPO roof comes down to the details, proper attachment, clean penetrations, correct flashing, and consistent weld quality. Every TPO field seam is hot-air welded rather than joined with seam adhesive.

Fully adhered

Bonded across the roof surface, heat-welded at the seams.

The TPO membrane is bonded to an approved insulation, cover board, or roof substrate, creating a smooth and secure roofing surface. The membrane sheets are overlapped and hot-air welded together to create watertight seams. A fully adhered system can provide a clean, smooth appearance with minimal membrane movement.

RhinoBond / induction welded

Mechanically secured beneath the membrane, without seam fasteners.

Specially coated fastening plates are mechanically secured to the roof assembly at engineered intervals. The TPO membrane is then installed over the plates and induction-welded directly to them. Because the attachment points are located in the field of the membrane rather than along the seams, the sheet overlaps remain free for clean, continuous hot-air welds. RhinoBond combines mechanical attachment with a clean membrane surface and evenly distributed attachment points throughout the roof system.

Mechanically attached

Fastened at the sheet edge, overlapped and heat-welded.

The TPO membrane is mechanically secured to the roof assembly along the edge of each sheet. The adjoining membrane sheet overlaps the attachment area, and the lap is then hot-air welded to create the finished watertight seam. Fastener spacing and attachment patterns are selected based on the roof assembly, building conditions, and project requirements.

A project consultant walks the roof, checks the seams and the drains, and tells you whether you need a coat, a section, or a full membrane. The inspection is free.
